I have been traveling a lot lately. Which makes my time at home something I savor. The pleasant way our house smells with Yankee candles at every corner, the way settling into the couch feels, how the dogs will run to the big front window to see what is happening on our street, what time Em & Aud leave, and come home! I know home... I love home! I can settle into home in a different way than a hotel room, an airplane seat, or a rental car... Don't even get me started my fury with rental cars lately! Haha, maybe that is another blog another morning!
Here is what I do know in the midst of details, schedules, and some might argue TOO much coffee. No matter where I go on this day, my God sees me.
On this Thursday afternoon would you remember the sweet truth... God is present with you today! The delightful reality that you are known.
If it feels like no one else sees you, cares about you, or wants to carry your grief as much as celebrate your joy... You have a Father in Heaven that stands before you and asks, "What do you want?"
Do you want to celebrate, dancing around the house with gladness? Do you want to wish the day away because simply getting out of bed feels like too much? Do you question what is true about the real you? On this Thursday afternoon, do you find yourself asking big questions about the greater plan for your life?
In ALL of these moments, would you dare to stand in the presence of God? Celebrate with Jesus, ask God to carry the pain of this day, remind you WHO you really are, and tell you again that He is IN control!
Ruth Haley Barton told us one time at the Transforming Community that the most asked question in the New Testament is, "What can I do for you?"
What does that tell you about the heart of God? I know for me it is the gentle, holy reminder that in the most mundane ordinary life I live, God constantly is checking in with me. He is holding me. He is asking over and over, "How are you today? Where can I be with YOU? Let my strong, but soft touch be in your life this day! I am FOR You!"
God REALLY sees us! In the swirl, wordiness, and details of the day, it feels good to be seen by the God that holds the very world in His mighty hands. Who declares us His own!
Today, you are seen! There is no sweeter truth to nestle into!
